The Sierra Club endorses Mai Xiong for County Commissioner

The Sierra Club has proudly endorsed Mai Xiong for County Commissioner during the 2020 election. We are honored to have earned the endorsement from the Sierra Club and are committed to working toward a better future for everyone.

“I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the Sierra Club and proud to share the same commitment and dedication to protecting our environment. Macomb County is home to one-of-a-kind natural resources. Our own Lake St. Clair is the heart of the Great Lakes. We must protect our Great Lakes from Asian Carp, increase recreation and sport on our lakes and waterways, and ensure access to clean drinking water. I will fight to keep our water resources safe for our children and generations to come. As a mother, I think about my children’s future every day. I understand how important it is for all of us to work together, to make sure that everyone, including our most vulnerable communities has access to clean water and clean air. This is why I will work hard everyday to fight for a better future for our children.

Mai Xiong earned the Sierra Club’s endorsement because of her commitment to putting the people of Macomb County and the 2nd District first,” said Tim Minotas, Legislative and Political Coordinator for the Michigan Chapter of the Sierra Club. “Mai will fight every day to ensure Macomb County’s residents have clean air to breathe as well as clean water to drink and enjoy for recreation. She is someone we can count on to have a strong voice for protecting the health of all its residents.”

The Sierra Club’s local chapter has over 150,000+ members in Michigan. The Sierra Club is the most enduring and influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States, amplifying the power of 3.8 million members and supporters to defend everyone’s right to a healthy world.
